Actual Old Man Logan

The people over at The Warp Zone gives us their newest parody and it is old man Logan. Wolverine takes on Father Time and finds him to be one of toughest opponents.  Logan is trapped in a old folks home and spends his time trying to escape. Loving tapioca pudding and talking about the old days.

It’s a fun short and I got a few giggles watching it. I hope you like it also.

Finally The ‘Wolverine’ We Always Wanted

If you are to believe to all the reviews that have been out so far from the critics, Logan is finally the movie we have waiting for.  Logan won’t be out until March 3, 2017 but with the advance reviews Logan is presently holding a 96% score at Rotten Tomatoes.

In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.

The film has been compared to a contemporary western. The film has been given a R-rating, thanks to Deadpool that showed a superhero movie with a R-rating can make a money and be a hit. The film is tracking to make $60 million on it’s opening weekend. According to Jackman this will be his final appearance as Wolverine a character that he has portrayed since he originated in 2000’s X-Men. There has been some rumors coming out that Hugh Jackman is having a hard time letting go of Logan. True or not it be nice to see him do it one more time. Hey Ryan think you can get him out for a quicky in ‘Deadpool 2’.

You can check to reviews here Variety and Heroic Hollywood

Logan also stars along with Jackman, Sir Patrick Stewart, Dafne Deen, Stephen Merchant, Richard E. Grant, Eriq LaSalle, Elizabeth Rodriguez.

Book Review: Old Man Logan #1

Old Man LoganOld Man Logan #1

Publisher: Marvel

Writer: Jeff Lemire

Artist: Andrea Sorrentino

Color: Marcelo Maiolo

Letterer: VC’s Cory Petit

One of the characters that Marvel decided to bring back after the Secret Wars event was Wolverine or Old Man Logan. Logan has returned to a world that was long dead to him. Waking up in New York and is dazed Logan is confronted by two cops that during a struggle is shot and this brings is memory flooding back. The anger, hate and a family lost. If you have not read the tie in books during the event of Secret Wars you maybe lost. Lemire writes a flash back scenes to help the reader understand the story that Logan will be heading on. Flashes back to is life after the villains have won. His family and is trying to live a normal life as possible.

logan1In this world Logan has had to change his ways. To turn the other check to keep his family alive and Lemire gives us a glimpse of this in the flash back. The Butcher, a small timer in the days before the villains take over now takes great pleasure of humiliating Logan in front of his son, Scott. Here we see Logan inner struggle between the wolverine and the man he must now be.

When Logan comes to realize that has somehow managed to return before the villain take. He believes that he was sent back for a purpose. To stop history from repeating itself.

Jeff Lemire does is best to get you hooked into Old Man Logan but if you have any knowledge of the character it is not overly exciting. If you are new to the character and I believe this book if for those new readers it will get them interested.

The art by Andrea Sorrentino is interesting but I find it to be to dark and washed out at time. I don’t hate it. It may even grow on me.

Old Man Logan is an attempt to keep the Wolverine character alive in the Marvel universe with out calling him Wolverine. Not a bad attempt but lets see what the old guy has left in him.

In the end I give Old Man Logan #1, 3.5 pops out of 5

Remember comics are to be enjoyed. Not destroyed.

Marvel Vs DC Animated

How many times have you wanted to see the mightiest heroes from the DC universe take on the gang from Marvel. I am not talking about a comic book version. But a live action one. Of course we will never see one. But animator Saruhan Saral brings that idea to life in two animated shorts.

Bring together the likes of Batman, Spider-Man, Superman, Wolverine, Green Lantern, Deadpool, Deathstroke, Flash, Quicksilver, Hulk, Iron Man and so many more. I started to wondering why these two groups would be fighting to begin with? But sometimes heroes don’t need a reason to fight. But at the end you find out why and it is a very pleasing twist.

Hello, I’m pleased to meet you!

Hi, and thankyou for taking the time to read this entry on the Pop Culture Cafe blog!

My name is Paul and I’m a long serving geek from the UK who loves video games, comics and movies, and I’ve been invited by the host of Pop Culture Cafe, John, to write a few posts every now and again.  This first post is really just to break me in and get to meet you all, next time I’ll be talking about some of the comics I’ve been reading, like the Spider Island or Infinity Gauntlet collections, or maybe about the pre-release demo builds of Destiny and Battlefield: Hardline I’ve been spending time with on the Playstation 4!

Whatever I come back with, I hope you’ll share with us the passion and enthusiasm for all the cool stuff that makes being a geek such a pleasure and make sure you listen to John’s Pop Culture Cafe Podcast for the latest news, or my own show, Big Kids Playground, for a relentless tornado of poor-taste humour and the best TV, movie and video game recommendations, available on iTunes, Spreaker.com, Tune In Radio and Stitcher!

Bye for now!
