Star Trek: Beyond

Paramount was hoping to keep this one under wraps from all the stories I have been hearing. But once it was leaked on line, well you might as well just give in and show it. We have been bombarded we trailers the last little while and Paramount has jumped on the trailer train.

Directed by Justin Lin, Fast & Furious fame this trailer has the look and feel of of that franchise. This a Star Trek made for the this generation. Fast, quick and looking like very little story. Today’s younger audience attention span need quick and flashy to keep their attention.

Hey don’t get me wrong it looks like a fun popcorn movie and I will be going to see it. But is your a old time Star Trek fan I can see those fans hating this.

The script is  from nerd Simon Pegg and Star Trek fan.

Paramount Does Not Want The Next Star Trek Film To Trek-y

In a recent interview with Radio Times (via The Guardian),  according to Simon Pegg, Paramount was worried that the new Star Trek film maybe to Trek-y

They had a script for Star Trek that wasn’t really working for them. I think the studio was worried that it might have been a little bit too Star Trek-y,” Pegg told the Radio Times

Pegg also said,

20665
[The Avengers], which is a pretty nerdy, comic-book, supposedly niche thing, made $1.5 billion dollars. Star Trek: Into Darkness made half a billion, which is still brilliant. But it means that, according to the studio, there’s still $1 billion worth of box office that don’t go and see Star Trek. And they want to know why.”

Simon Pegg also went on to say that Paramount is hoping for a more Saturday night entertainment like the Avengers. Paramount is suggesting that the new Star Trek movie have a feel of a western or a thriller or a heist movie with just happens to be in the Star Trek universe.

So if your a old Star Trek fan be prepared for a more Marvel looking film. Is that a bad thing? If your a share holder of Paramount then no and really if your a fan no. The new Star Trek films alternative universe so for us old guard we can have fun with both. Go and watch these new adventures and go home and watch the classic.
