Netflix Original – Wormwood

How big does the conspiracy go? Uncover the truth behind the CIA, LSD, mind control… and the death of a family man.

Wormwood launches globally December 15.

Directed by boundary-breaking filmmaker Errol Morris, Wormwood explores the limits of knowledge about the past and the lengths we’ll go in our search for the truth. A twisting, evolving story of one man’s sixty-year quest to identify the circumstances of his father’s mysterious death.

Combining a virtuosic performance by Peter Sarsgaard with Morris’ legendary interview style, Wormwood examines this case from every possible angle, bringing the viewer face-to-face with some of the United States’ darkest secrets. Wormwood sets a new standard for nonfiction filmmaking and finds Morris working on his grandest canvas yet.

Netflix: Altered Carbon

Netflix is diving into a new cyber-punk/Black Runner sci-fi with their upcoming series.  Altered Carbon looks at a world where a persons consciousness can be digitized and human bodies are interchangeable.  Death no longer is permanent so why fear death.

Based on the classic cyberpunk noir novel by Richard K. Morgan, Altered Carbon is an intriguing story of murder, love, sex, and betrayal, set more than 300 years in the future. Society has been transformed by new technology: consciousness can be digitized; human bodies are interchangeable; death is no longer permanent. Takeshi Kovacs is the lone surviving soldier in a group of elite interstellar warriors who were defeated in an uprising against the new world order. His mind was imprisoned, “on ice”, for centuries until Laurens Bancroft, an impossibly wealthy, long-lived man, offers Kovacs the chance to live again. In exchange, Kovacs has to solve a murder … that of Bancroft himself. Altered Carbon launches on Netflix Friday, February 2.

First Look at Black Mirror S4

Netflix released two new images from the upcoming fourth season of Black Mirror.  One of the photos show a episode show a Star Trek-inspired “USS Callister”. The second photo is from a episode called “Arkangel”.  I still have to catch up on season three of this modern day “Twilight Zone” type serious. I found this series like most of you through word of mouth and what a find. The series is created and written by Charlie Brooker is incredible thought provoking and humorous series.

Black Mirror is an anthology series that taps into our collective unease with the modern world, with each stand-alone episode a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia leading to an unforgettable – and sometimes unsettling – conclusion. Without questioning it, technology has transformed all aspects of our lives; in every home; on every desk; in every palm – a plasma screen; a monitor; a Smartphone – a Black Mirror reflecting our 21st Century existence back at us. The series is created and written by Charlie Brooker, and executive produced by Brooker and Annabel Jones.
