Cosplay From Comic Con Russia

Seeing a music video like this just reminds me that all over the world there are people that just love the geek/nerd culture. This music video created by Mr.TVCow was shot a the Comic Con Russian 2015. Yes there are many such videos around the net. This interesting to me for the simple fact that is you were not informed that is was from Russia you would have no idea.  Geeks/nerds are all the same no matter where from. So check out some great work done my these cosplayers.

Black Widow Trailer

Christopher Haley has done something that Marvel has not. A Black Widow a trailer. Okay it is only a trailer for a wanted Black Widow stand alone film but what a trailer. I have been a fan of the character since her first appearance in Iron Man 2. Also being a fan of Scarlett Johanson helps.  I truly believe that is Scarlett’s portray of Black Widow that has brought the character to the forefront in the MCU.

Well Christopher has delivered a fantastic trailer for a Black Widow film.

“The James Bond connotations were very deliberate. I always thought “Sour Times” belonged in a Bond film. All the best superhero movies find a way to break out of the superhero genre. I’ve always said that the only way to do Black Widow movie is to make it a spy film; otherwise it’s just an Avengers movie minus most of the Avengers. I don’t mind people noting the 007 influence given that it was a conscious choice”.

Cut off one head, two more shall take it’s place. . . For this speculative title sequence of a Black Widow film I decided Black Widow’s villain would be. . . Black Widow. Yelena Belova, to be specific. Belova believes herself to be the superior Black Widow, and in some ways she is right. Swift and ruthless, Belova is the most talented assassin to graduate from the Red Room–and now she is Hydra’s most deadly weapon. At Belova’s side is a super-soldier of her own, Alexi Shostakov–the Red Guardian, who also happens to be Natasha’s former lover. When the new heads of Hydra make a play for the power of the infinity stones it is up to S.H.I.E.L.D.’s top agent to stop them.

Black Widow #1: Review

BlackwidowBlack Widow #1

Written by: Nathan Edmondson

Art by: Phil Noto

Lettered by VC’s Clayton Cowles

Black Widow is a busy woman. Natasha Romanov is a Avenger, a agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and ex-KGB agent assassin. On her free time if you can call it that she takes up jobs to help atone for her past.

Written by Nathan Edmondson and art by Phil Noto these two individuals try and give the reader a idea of what Natasha Romanov does to help correct deeds she has done in her past.

Nathan gives the reader a idea of Natasha’s past but as the character says “no one will know my full story” as she pushes a fellow out a window. He had a rope attached to him. Nathan decides to take the reader forward and not spend time on her past. Part of that moving forward is Natasha trying to atone for her past by taking jobs to set aside in different trust funds. We are not informed who or what these trust funds are for and that increase the mystery of the Black Widow.  The reader knows that even though the Black widow is part of Avenger, S.H.I.E.L.D. she does not answer to anyone or play by the rules. The Black Widow is trying to redeem herself by taking on jobs, but how many will it take? If you are hoping for the Deadpool type of action and humor then your reading the wrong book.

Blackwidow1  The art work by Phil Noto stylish and looks like the art work from 1960’s pulp fiction art of the books of the time. It works great here. You are in the present but with that feel of the past. Noto’s art reminds me of water color art fluid and stunning.

Overall the book reminds of a pilot for a proposed TV show. Everything from character introduction, fast pace action and a hint of what may come in the future.

So in the end I give Black Widow #1 4 pops out of 5. Go out and get this book and give it a try.

Remember comics are to be enjoyed. Not destroyed.
