Here’s a BBC One Doctor Who trailer for the upcoming season. Take a look Who fans and get all excited. If you don’t then hand in you sonic screw driver.
Wolverine #1 opening page has the old canuck on the floor with half of his body regenerating. Not a pretty picture but well done by artist Alan Davis. The book written by Paul Cornell, pencilled by Davis and inked by Mark Farmer is, if correct the fifth number 1 book about the Wolverine and his adventures. Wolverine finds himself in a hostage situation with a crazy guy killing off hostages for no real reason. Don’t you love crazy people? The one line in the book that seemed strange to me was Wolverine calling himself a “super hero” I really have a hard time believing old Wolfy calling himself a “super hero”
The story is alright and moves along nicely and has a nice little surprise but not overly shocking. I have enjoyed Alan Davis work since I first found him and still enjoy it. Simple and clean, not to heavy on detail which I personally like. I am trying to find something that makes me say this is a awesome book but really I can’t. It is average and nothing really special. There is a small point where you we see the Wolverine we love but it is brief.
In the end the book was fine but not great. But hey that is my thought and if your a big fan of Wolverine I say get it. But you can find a lot more out there with Wolverine that maybe worth a look.
So I give Wolverine #1 3 drunken monkeys out 5
Remember comics are to be enjoyed not destroyed
So while looking around and finding some interesting gems on the old internet I came across a short film that I had seen before and forgotten about. Dirty Laundry is a short film starring Thomas Jane as The Punisher. If you remember back in 2004, Jane and John Travolta starred in the movie, The Punisher!. The film did not do that great at the box office but did well in DVD sales. A interview with Thomas Jane for Filmschoolrejects, says “I wanted to make a fan film for a character I’ve always loved and believed in – a love letter to Frank Castle & his fans. It was an incredible experience with everyone on the project throwing in their time just for the fun of it. It’s been a blast to be a part of from start to finish — we hope the friends of Frank enjoy watching it as much as we did making it.” — Thomas Jane. The articule is written by Robert Fure.
This a good little movie and well worth checking out.
Written and Directed by Nick Ryan and starring Toby Kebbell and Christian Brassington this 10 minute short tells the story of a British fighter pilot pursuing and shooting down a German fighter pilot that has shot down one of his fellow comrades. The battles concludes on the ground where the British pilot finds it more difficult to shot your enemy face to face. This is another fine exsample of shorts out there that are hidden. The movie also has a nice little twist at the end and a fact about the war I did not know about. The film has over 1 million hits so it is doing something right.
The zombie craze is going strong and they come all shapes and sizes. I found this little movie while I was playing with Stumble. If you do not have Stumble then get it. This short was made back in 2011. There is no dialogue in the short only music but it works well. It is cute to see a zombie in a penguin suit munching away on people. There is a what they were before at the end credits.
