If you are to believe to all the reviews that have been out so far from the critics, Logan is finally the movie we have waiting for. Logan won’t be out until March 3, 2017 but with the advance reviews Logan is presently holding a 96% score at Rotten Tomatoes.
The film has been compared to a contemporary western. The film has been given a R-rating, thanks to Deadpool that showed a superhero movie with a R-rating can make a money and be a hit. The film is tracking to make $60 million on it’s opening weekend. According to Jackman this will be his final appearance as Wolverine a character that he has portrayed since he originated in 2000’s X-Men. There has been some rumors coming out that Hugh Jackman is having a hard time letting go of Logan. True or not it be nice to see him do it one more time. Hey Ryan think you can get him out for a quicky in ‘Deadpool 2’.
Logan also stars along with Jackman, Sir Patrick Stewart, Dafne Deen, Stephen Merchant, Richard E. Grant, Eriq LaSalle, Elizabeth Rodriguez.

Before I sat down to watch this, I knew it was going to be a bit of a mind trip. It was “broken” legion from the comics after all. I have to admit I had not read the solo series Marvel released so my POV on Legion was a bit dated.
My litmus test for this series was actually going to be my wife’s reaction as we watched it. She’s a casual “comic movie fan” and if she could get on board with what I suspected was going to be a psychedelic episode I knew FOX could go somewhere with this.To be completely honest I can think of about 40 different characters that they could have done a series with, and Legion wasn’t on that list.
Within the first 5 minutes I heard “This is doing nothing for me so far” as the delusions of a fractured psyche played out across the screen in front of us. Then something happened. Dan Stevens begin to act….and it got better from there.
If anything can make this series a success I suspect the acting chops of Dan Brown and Rachel Keller can help with that. I feel terrible saying “acting chops” there, as both of them have extensive professional training with names like “Carnegie” and “Cambridge” attached to it, and I made them sound like street carnie. For the record , there is an excellent little dance number in the episode that I thought showed a range of these actors right out of the gate.
The story itself had a nice pace to it and I did do a little internal fist bump when the name “mutant” was talked about with a fear I had not felt since the 80,s-90’s.They gave me enough to be interested ,but not too much to think they hot shotted the storyline which is become rarer and rarer in todays TV universe. I’m going to watch the first 8 episodes(full season) for sure and go from there.
Trailer is below and the series airs Wednesdays on FX.
Marvel has announced the group of young actors that will make up make what they called ‘first group of young actors’ for ‘Runaways’
“Runaways’ created by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona about a group of kids discover that their parents are part of an evil crime organization known as “The Pride“. The teenagers then band together to atone for their parents crimes. The show will be on Hulu and as at this moment I can not find where it will premiere in Canada.
Marvel introduced the actors with a brief description of the character they will portraying.
Rhenzy Feliz (“Teen Wolf,” “Casual”) as Alex Wilder is a loud-and-proud nerd. Admittedly a bit of a loner, Alex spends much of his free-time playing video games, but deep down, what he wants most is to reunite his childhood group of friends.
Lyrica Okano (“The Affair,” “Unforgettable”) Nico Minoru–tough, intelligent, and independent–embodies teenage angst. A budding “Wiccan,” Nico’s carefully crafted goth appearance isolates her from her peers and family, but maybe what she really needs is someone to talk to.
Virginia Gardner (“Goat,” “Little Bitches”) as Karolina Dean, model-perfect exterior with a lot going on behind her professionally whitened smile, is burdened by the lofty expectations and responsibilities put upon her by her parents. Underneath her veneer of privilege and perfection, Karolina is experiencing a newfound eagerness to explore her identity and pursue her own desires.
Ariela Barer (“New Girl,” “One Day at a Time”) as Gert Yorkes is a purple-haired, bespectacled, contemporary riot grrrl. Never passing up a moment to stand on a soapbox, Gert sometimes wields her persona as a brash social justice warrior to mask her true feelings.
Gregg Sulkin (“Faking It,” “Don’t Hang Up,” “Anti Social”) as Chase Stein is a lacrosse-playing, high school heartthrob. While many write him off as a dumb jock, Chase exhibits flashes of untapped brilliance in engineering, not unlike his wildly successful father’s.
Allegra Acosta (“100 Things to do Before High School,” “Just Add Magic”) as Molly Hernandez, the youngest and most innocent member of her friend group, is known for her peppy positivity and a deep yearning to belong.
“Marvel’s Runaways” is executive produced by series showrunners/writers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (“THE O.C.,” “GOSSIP GIRL”) along with Marvel’s Head of Television, Jeph Loeb (“Marvel’s Luke Cage,” “Marvel’s Iron Fist”) and Jim Chory (“Marvel’s Daredevil,” “Marvel’s Jessica Jones.”) Fake Empire’s Lis Rowinski will produce as well. Marvel’s Runaways is a co-production with ABC Signature Studios.
Variety is reporting that Ben Affleck has decided to step away from the director’s chair. Affleck will stay on as producer and star but now the hunt is on for a new directer.
Sources that are close to the Affleck and Warner Bros., said that it was a decision made by both parties.
“There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions,” Affleck said in a statement. “Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”
Is this another bad omen for Warner Bro., and DC. Awhile ago a story was leaked (true or false) that the script was bad but executives at Warner Bros did care as long as it made money over seas. That may have changed with Affleck and Geoff Johns have wrote a script for the solo “Batman” movie.
I for one will wait and see.
How about you. Is Affleck leaving the directors chair good or bad for the film.
I did not grow up watching the Power Rangers when they came on TV. I was to old and to me I laughed at the stupid stories lines and the high quality(cough) Japanese villains. I should of like it growing up watching mostly Godzilla movies. The Power Rangers have now been updated for a new generation and for those that grew up watching. So expect the violence to be two fold. Today updated means more violence. Okay maybe cartoon violence but still…..Humans are so special.
I am sure if you grew up watching the Power Rangers this trailer and the movie will have you wetting your pants.
