Neill Blomkamp has been a very busy boy. Earlier Neill release to short film through Oats Studios, titled “Rakka.” Now this time an 26:52 short film called “Firebase”.
Neill Blomkamp along with independent production studio, Oats Studios are producing some great experimental filmed content. Then through various online platforms they will be able to raise additional funding by sale of more original digital content on Steam. Their hope is that they will be able to then give what the fans want by financial support and feed back. So in a small way each financial backer is a producer.
If you enjoy this short film and would love to help support Neill and Oats Studios follow the links below.

Oat studios(based out of Vancouver, Canada) is a gambit for Neil Blomkamp. He’s wondering if people will pay for short films that could be developed into full length films. I really think he is on to something. This teaser looks amazing.
I’m a bit bummed he never got his shot at the Aliens franchise but if this short clip is any indication he may very well have his own “Alien” franchise on his hands. If you look closely at this clip I swear that looks like Sigourney Weaver at 42 seconds. If she has interest in this style of film making ,I’m sold already.
I will admit the creatures look like a cross between Raptors and a Godzilla face but I’ve seen a lot worse make it to feature film. Exciting concept if it takes off. Can you imagine the future if studios can road test their films before they get greenlit? Would change the industry…for good or bad, I’m not sure…
We here it is boys and girls the first official trailer for the next installment of the Star Wars franchise.

I remember the first time I saw the trailer for “Cowboys vs Aliens” and thought it looked ambitious and very good……and then it came out. I kind of got the same vibe from this trailer. I’m sure Gangsters and Goblins looks unique on paper, but this is not a series…..this is a movie. That’s not a lot of time to reconcile those two worlds in the minds of many Netflix watchers.
I had forgotten how good Will Smith can act in Sci fi until I had watched Suicide Squad a while ago. If anyone can pull this off, it’s probably him. The creatures in that trailer look a lot like orc’s but that could rub lovers of the LOTR trilogy the wrong with if they are presented second rate.
The southern twang music was a nice touch, as opposed to a heavy drum beat “Hood” scenery usually has. This movie had a $90 million dollar budget and I bet a good chuck of that was Will Smiths salary. Max Landis wrote this and he’s got some serious geek cred so we’ll see how it goes.

Again one of movie trailers making a Super Bowl appearance is the movie adaption of ‘Ghost in the Shell’. Based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Masamune Shirow. The first series was serialized in 1989. Ghost in the Shell is a story about a counter-cyberterrorist organization Public Security Section 9, led by Major Motoko Kusanagi. The story takes place in Japan in the mid-21 century.
A big controversy erupted with the casting of Scarlet Johansson in the lead role. To many it was another example of Hollywood’s white washing. Producer Steven Paul in a statement to Buzzfeed back in June 30th, 2016, hope that fans will be “very, very happy” with the film.
I think everybody is going to end up being really happy with it. They’re going to be very, very happy with it when they see what we’ve actually done with it, and I don’t think anybody’s going to be disappointed.
I love Scarlet Johansson and she has proven over and over again that she can do action. I am hoping that the people over Marvel finally get off their ass and make a ‘Black Widow’ movie
