Movie Monday: Blackstar Warrior

Mixing blaxploitation and really back 70’s sci-fi  Matt Haley brings you a bad but entertaining short film. The bad is that this is so dam close to it brings you back those days when if your may age TV series could be this bad. So sit back and travel back to a time when this was TV sci-fi.

In a 1970s version of the future, an egotistical space detective struggles to solve his biggest missing-persons case: finding his birth mother. After his parents’ deaths, space detective Tyson Roderick discovers their secret genetics lab and partners with his trusty funbot Alphie in a desperate quest to rid the galaxy of evil while searching for the secret of his origins – and his long-lost mother.

Netflix – Lost In Space

Lost in Space (CBS) 1965-1968
Shown from left: back, Angela Cartwright (as Penny Robinson), Mark Goddard (as Major Donald West), Marta Kristen (as Judy Robinson), Jonathan Harris (as Dr Zachary Smith), Guy Williams (as Professor John Robinson), front, June Lockhart (as Dr Maureen Robinson), Bill Mumy (as Will Robinson)

Oh I remember the days growing up and watching the original Lost In Space .  Premiering  Sept 15, 1965 the show started out a serious look of the Robinson family as they struggle to survive in a strange and often dangerous universe. Over time the show slowly turned into more of a comedy in my opinion. I spent may hours after school watching the reruns.

Then in 1998 the series was adapted into a major motion picture which starred Gary Oldman, William Hurt, Matt LeBlanc and Mimi Rogers. The film was not well received and considered a finical success. I think I was one of the few that did enjoy the movie.

Now Netflix has come along and updated and gave the show a modern re imagining.  So far from the trailer released it does looking like the kind of show it was meant to be.

While this is the first look at Netflix’s epic and modern reimagining of the classic 1960’s science fiction series here on Earth, “Lost in Space” has already been made available for viewing in space. Netflix provided NASA with access to the pilot episode, which was transmitted 12 days ago to the International Space Station for astronauts to view during their leisure time

Lost in Space is a Netflix Original dramatic and modern reimagining of the classic 1960’s science fiction series. Set 30 years in the future, colonization in space is now a reality, and the Robinson family is among those tested and selected to make a new life for themselves in a better world. But when the new colonists find themselves abruptly torn off course en route to their new home they must forge new alliances and work together to survive in a dangerous alien environment, light-years from their original destination. Stranded along with the Robinsons are two outsiders who find themselves thrown together by circumstance and a mutual knack for deception. The unsettlingly charismatic Dr. Smith (Parker Posey) is a master manipulator with an inscrutable end game. And the roguish, but inadvertently charming Don West (Ignacio Serricchio) is a highly-skilled, blue collar contractor, who had no intention of joining the colony, let alone crash landing on a lost planet.

WWE Superstar John Cena Staring Duke Nukem?

John Cena is another WWE Superstar that has taken up the second carrer as an actor. I have seen a few of the films that he has done. The films I have seen him in I have to say that John is better at comedy. If the film can mix a action and comedy and not a huge budget attached to the film. John Cena may have a hit on his hand.

John Cena is in talks to star in Paramount’s “Duke Nukem” movie, a big-screen version of the long-running video game franchise. The project is set up at Paramount-based Platinum Dunes, which is operated by Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller. No director or writer is attached yet. Duke Nukem first appeared in the 1991…
