This trailer , I think, was actually done better then the first two. The first two were well done, but seemed much more action orientated where this one slowed it down a bit and delved into Wonder Woman’s origin story and alluded more to who she really is and the bloodline she has running through her veins.
At a few points during the trailer I even felt it had a bit of a Gladiator vibe to it which didn’t hurt it. As she introduced herself at the 2 minute mark, I even saw a sly “homage” to Maximus Decimus Meridius and his famous introduction to villain Commodus in Gladiator.
I hope Chris Pines character in this movie is not that of a “sidekick cuck” but we’ll see. It certainly seems that way so far. Hopefully they flesh(see the trailer) his character out a bit more .
This one seems more personal. Jack Sparrow may have pissed off the wrong guy this time around. I like that. Also seems they are going a bit darker which I also approve of. Seems to be a more focused conflict then the last time around.
I didn’t see Keira Knightley or Orlando Bloom in the trailer so guessing they are not in this one. It does state that is the “beginning of an adventure” so this may be a two parter. Great to see Geoffery Rush back either way. I’ll probably regret saying this but as of right now I’m looking forward to seeing this.
I remember the first time I saw the trailer for “Cowboys vs Aliens” and thought it looked ambitious and very good……and then it came out. I kind of got the same vibe from this trailer. I’m sure Gangsters and Goblins looks unique on paper, but this is not a series…..this is a movie. That’s not a lot of time to reconcile those two worlds in the minds of many Netflix watchers.
I had forgotten how good Will Smith can act in Sci fi until I had watched Suicide Squad a while ago. If anyone can pull this off, it’s probably him. The creatures in that trailer look a lot like orc’s but that could rub lovers of the LOTR trilogy the wrong with if they are presented second rate.
The southern twang music was a nice touch, as opposed to a heavy drum beat “Hood” scenery usually has. This movie had a $90 million dollar budget and I bet a good chuck of that was Will Smiths salary. Max Landis wrote this and he’s got some serious geek cred so we’ll see how it goes.
Bah, you had to go there didn’t you?!?……. I suppose I should back up.
After the second trailer introduced the fact that Samuel L Jackson, John Goodman, Tom Hiddleston , John. C. Reilly and Brie Larson would all be sharing the screen my interest in this film rose greatly. This was going to be a hip Kong movie and some great dialogue. It was going to be funny and much better then I thought it was going to be.
This third and final trailer put me in the same spot as the first one did. Monkey see, Monkey do , monkey tell the story for you. Unless I’m missing some HUGE plot twist, I pretty much have seen Kong do everything I expected that he would do. They should have delved more into the backgrounds and interaction between the supporting characters instead of showing shot after shot of “Kong destroy”……that’s why I see it on the big screen. For that CGI.
In the vein of CGI action, I spotted what to me has become a cardinal sin in CGI action. Completely re-hashed scene from another movie …….except it’s from another King Kong movie!!!!!.Don’t believe me? Go to 2:03 – 2:05 of the below trailer. Then go to the trailer below that and go to 2:34……eerily alike. They are basically going to re- create the awesome classic T-Rex/King Kong scene they did in King Kong 2005.
I did enjoy the “music” created for this new trailer using guns being loaded. Creative, but not enough to cover the flaws for the trailer. Seeing WAY too much monkey
I’ll probably still end up going to see it in the theatre but the shines off this rose for now.
If you are to believe to all the reviews that have been out so far from the critics, Logan is finally the movie we have waiting for. Logan won’t be out until March 3, 2017 but with the advance reviews Logan is presently holding a 96% score at Rotten Tomatoes.
The film has been compared to a contemporary western. The film has been given a R-rating, thanks to Deadpool that showed a superhero movie with a R-rating can make a money and be a hit. The film is tracking to make $60 million on it’s opening weekend. According to Jackman this will be his final appearance as Wolverine a character that he has portrayed since he originated in 2000’s X-Men. There has been some rumors coming out that Hugh Jackman is having a hard time letting go of Logan. True or not it be nice to see him do it one more time. Hey Ryan think you can get him out for a quicky in ‘Deadpool 2’.
This is only my second short film that I have reviewed for this site and I’m glad to say that this is my second pleasant surprise. The backbone of this short film revolves around the superhero world turned upside down with a touch of X -steria(not a real word) thrown in.
We tend to think of Super Heroes as either good or evil , respected or feared. What if that respect and fear was gone? If using their powers meant death or imprisonment? if society hated them but no longer had a reason to fear them……they’d pick up rocks for a living. That’s what they’d do. They’d do menial work which in no way gave them any kind of status in society.
So for the 4%…..that’s what they do. Treated like illegals in their own country.
More recent news on this venture came courtesy of the Fine folks at Deadline. They state that XYZ films has acquired International sales rights to code 8.They also state Steven Amell is in the short film……and he is not.
Below is also the link to the Indiegogo fund raiser that has garnered over $1.7 million towards the budget for the film so far.
Please check the short film out. It’s well worth it for the acting, cinematography ,and very real near future of drones .
Again one of movie trailers making a Super Bowl appearance is the movie adaption of ‘Ghost in the Shell’. Based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Masamune Shirow. The first series was serialized in 1989. Ghost in the Shell is a story about a counter-cyberterrorist organization Public Security Section 9, led by Major Motoko Kusanagi. The story takes place in Japan in the mid-21 century.
A big controversy erupted with the casting of Scarlet Johansson in the lead role. To many it was another example of Hollywood’s white washing. Producer Steven Paul in a statement to Buzzfeed back in June 30th, 2016, hope that fans will be “very, very happy” with the film.
I think everybody is going to end up being really happy with it. They’re going to be very, very happy with it when they see what we’ve actually done with it, and I don’t think anybody’s going to be disappointed.
I love Scarlet Johansson and she has proven over and over again that she can do action. I am hoping that the people over Marvel finally get off their ass and make a ‘Black Widow’ movie
