Oat studios(based out of Vancouver, Canada) is a gambit for Neil Blomkamp. He’s wondering if people will pay for short films that could be developed into full length films. I really think he is on to something. This teaser looks amazing.
I’m a bit bummed he never got his shot at the Aliens franchise but if this short clip is any indication he may very well have his own “Alien” franchise on his hands. If you look closely at this clip I swear that looks like Sigourney Weaver at 42 seconds. If she has interest in this style of film making ,I’m sold already.
I will admit the creatures look like a cross between Raptors and a Godzilla face but I’ve seen a lot worse make it to feature film. Exciting concept if it takes off. Can you imagine the future if studios can road test their films before they get greenlit? Would change the industry…for good or bad, I’m not sure…
This has got to be the best political drama on TV. Tomorrow, Season 5 of “House of Cards” drops and I can’t wait. I don’t think a political series has been so timely as this one. At the end of last season viewers were fearful of a president mad with power and on the brink of war. He was using the Presidency to protect his power and hide his mistakes every step of the way. It was only “TV”. We shut it off and wondered where President Underwood would go next in his quest to manipulate and retain his grasp on his world.
We had been to war before……not even 20 years ago. It would be entertaining to watch President Underwood’s spin on how he would react to actions of a past Republican president. Would he be smarter?…..would it play out differently? Would he succeed?
Then Nov.8th happened……..and I think President Underwood is going to scare the hell out of us.
He needs to. Reality so far has trumped anything that A Underwood presidency could bring to the table. Every day is new chaos. So I suspect the writers knew they need to go to a level that has not been gone to yet in real life. Into the mind of a sociopath with access to control of which he has never had before. Into the mind of a sociopath where the idea of “Term limit” is laughable and something to be fixed. Where paranoia exists and control is the only option.

Hey gang this show is interviews with comicbook creators that had attended the 2017 Calgary Expo. One of my favorite things I love about the Calgary Expo and Edmonton Expo is the chance to talk to the men and woman that create comicbooks.

Today Netflix dropped the trailer for upcoming series Castlevania. I have to say I thought this was going to be a live action series. Ha guess I was wrong. The trailer does look interesting but I have to say I never did play the game when it was out so I have no idea of the back story. Saying that the trailer does look interesting so I may give it a chance.

The Black Lighting is coming the the CW this fall and there are no plans for Black Lighting to be part of the Arrowverse. According to network president Mark Pedowitz that there will be another Arrow/Flash/Supergirl/Legends of Tomorrow but Black Lighting will be in another universe.
One of the reasons that Black Lighting will be set in a different universe is the location. Black Lighting will be filmed in Atlanta while the other shows are all in filmed in Vancouver. So doing a cross over can be a little difficult with all the travel.
My feeling is the show will take on the same theme as the other show have of protecting a city. After watching the trailer I did get a Luke Cage feel for it. Unlike the Luke Cage where Luke is interested in protect Harlem, Black Lighting will be protecting his city. Black Lighting maybe the CW’s attempt of getting some of the same audience as Luke Cage. My feeling is that the ability of Marvel to go a little darker on Netflix will give Luke Cage the edge.
The show does have something different from the other shows on the CW. This show leads are black and hopefully it tackles some more adult stories and not worry about the pretty young people. Tackling what it is to be a black vigilante that is a hero and the struggles it is to be one. Time will tell if the audience will jump on board and follow another superhero show on the CW.
Black Lightning is a super-hero with the ability to generate and control lightning. Originally he was a high school principal and Olympic-level athlete who became a vigilante to take down organized crime in Metropolis‘ Suicide Slum. Eventually he would become a member of Batman‘s team of Outsiders for many years, although he retired briefly to become secretary of education under president Lex Luthor. He returned to crime-fighting, though, as a member of the Justice League. His two daughters operate as the super-heroes Thunder and Lightning. Black Lightning was created by Tony Isabella and Trevor von Eeden, first appearing in Black Lightning #1. (1977)
