Death Note, Who Lives and Who Dies

This is an live action version of the Japanese Death Note  manga series written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. The story follows Light Yagami, a high school student who discovers a supernatural notebook from a Shinigami named Ryuk that grants its user the ability to kill anyone whose name and face he knows. The series centers around Light’s attempts to create and rule a world “cleansed of evil” as “God” using the notebook, and the efforts of a detective known as L to stop him.

I know very little of this series except that my son was a big fan of it. The clip below does peak my interest. But the real credit of this film will be him.

This Netflix original  version is directed by Adam Wingard (Blair Witch, You’re Next) and stars Nat Wolff (Paper Towns), Margaret Qualley (The Leftovers), Lakeith Stanfield (Get Out), Paul Nakauchi (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End), Shea Whigham (American Hustle) and Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man).

Now listen to me; by talent, I’m not just talking about acting – it can be anything you do that is spectacularly entertaining as long as it’s not dangerous, life threatening to others, or xxx-rated. You can also enter the contest by uploading your video on the Twitter or the Instagram using #SandyWexlerContest.

Quite frankly, this is the chance of a lifetime. As your manager, I’m not happy unless you’re happy. So what do you say we get happy together?

Thank You,

Sandy Wexler

Grimm Series Finale

GRIMM — Pictured: “Grimm” Key Art — (Photo by: NBCUniversal)

For those of you who watched last week……hoo boy, did not see THAT coming. This is a bittersweet finale for me for a show that never truly reached its full potential. It did a great job of building this amazing universe over the seasons, but never really did as much as they could have with it.

It wasn’t a perfect show by any means. The villain of the week format did get tiresome after a while, but they did develop an undercurrent of a main storyline each week so I was okay with it. One of the most important by products of this format is that the viewers got introduced to dozens of difference races in the Vessen world. Some of these episodes were  one offs, but many of them made appearances in the show as it continued and some of them because semi featured characters.

I think this is one those shows that could have a life on Netflix or another network, if they could provide a bit more room for the darker edge the show should have had from the beginning, but just seemed to show up in the last season.

If you have any interest in perhaps reading a few of their adventures, there are two series(One in 2013 and another in 2016) that DYNAMITE released that might be off interest to you.

Final Episode airs This Friday Mar.31rst.Trailer below
