Star Wars: The Force Awakens Wrecks The Internet

As soon as tickets were up for pre-sale on the internet for Star Wars: The Force Awakens the net exploded with people trying to get tickets.

thumbnail_21381The previous recorder  holder for one day sales was $1 million and that was for the first Hunger Games. The Force Awakens sold $6.5 million domestic. I not sure if Canada comes into factor in those figures.  Seeing these kinds of numbers is a good sign.  It be interesting to see what the sells figures are from foreign markets.

Tickets sales went on sale around the same time that the trailer was shown. Demand was so high that sites like IMAX, Fandango and Movietickets buckled under the demand.

“The only words to describe the first day of IMAX worldwide advance ticket sales for Star Wars: The Force Awakens are ‘record-shattering’,” said Greg Foster, senior executive VP, IMAX Corp. and CEO of Imax Entertainment.

So how many times did you watch the trailer? I watched only twice but I did get excited. The one thing that got me excited was seeing particle effect. The look of the film look dirty and real. Not shiny like that of the 1, 2 and 3. Does seeing the use of real effects give you the same feeling?

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens December 18th.

Got your ticket?
