Zenescope is back with Season 10 of the Charmed series. I did not follow the series when it was on TV and did not read season 9 when it was released. So I have no idea of the history of the series or books. The Charmed series ran in the time when magic and occult series were on the tube back in the late 90’s. I had not watch the big show of that time, Buffy The Vampire Slayer so Charmed was not my watch list either. But thanks to Netflix I can go back and watch the series now.
But this is a review of issue 1 of Charmed, Season 10. I had no idea what was going on. I know that there were three sister that were witches and they had all kinds of trouble with bad things. The story came off as a TV episode and since that is what the show was then it fit. But I really did not get heavily involved in the story. Someone is out to kill them. They defeat the assassins. All is well until the last pages and we see someone else is out to get them. The same by the numbers for TV. I was not invested in the characters or the ordeal they faced.
Pat Shand is a good writer but I felt that this not at his best here. I have no idea what he has plan for the season but from the first book I not really interested. Sorry Pat.
The art work by Elisa Feliz is find. At times it is really well done but other I was not really impressed. Nothing to make me go wow, more like umm that is okay.
I have to say that this book is more for the fans of the series than anyone else. If you are a fan you will like this book. Us who are picking it up for the first time, well I say pass. The book is fine but nothing makes it stand out in the comic book world.
So in the end I give Charmed Season 10, issue 1 and 2.5 pops out of 5.
Sorry guys and girls. Have to be honest.
Remember comics are to be enjoyed. Not destroyed.
