Catching Up With The Poppers

Good Day Poppers,

J.W. Coughlan coming at you through the World Wide Web.

Let us catch up, shant we? Fantastic, Allons-y, GERONIMO!! My super cute nerd child which I created with my super awesome partner in crime is getting into TMNT from 1987, thank you YouTube!!! I even managed to dig up my old toys for him to play with as he watches the wonders of that classic toon. Also, he still is into Ultimate Spider-Man, which I hope some of you checked out. Pretty awesome right?

In other news I have almost caught up on Doctor Who, I finished Matt Smith. He was AMAZING, he is my Doctor, he was the best, he was complete epic bliss. I think him and Amy put together would be my secondary soul mate. Does that make sense? No. Does it have to? No. Guess what else, lego hairy cart lanterns with chalky soap in a glass bottle tied to a donkey on a Halloween landing on Sunday. See blogs rule. So yeah, I hope this next guy doesn’t disappoint cause oh man, avoiding spoilers is not easy. I loved Amy so much, I loved Eleven so much, just like Ten and Martha, and back then I was all pffff, nobody could ever top these two. But now after Eleven and Amy I’m all, dude, I couldn’t even pick those other fools out of a line up. A line up of Starfleet officers even. Seriously, I am so blinded by my love for them, if you took Ten and Martha and put them on the bridge of the Enterprise and said find the Doctor Who characters I would say sorry, but my mind is just showing pictures of Amy and her raggedy man.

What else is new? Arrow premiere tonight super stoked about that. I’m reading a book called Half Bad, and it ain’t half bad….. my wife told me that joke, I am shameful. I took it out from a building called the library. I want to take my vacation at THE LIBRARY!

Right, now, I’m running low on news from my life. I’m wearing Joker pyjama pants, and a shirt that says lettuce turnip the beet. LOL! Oh yeah The Flash premiered. And! The Edmonton Comic Expo came and went, I got a few pics. Me and the fam jam went as Arrow characters, check it out on my Twitter here:

Also, I was trying to find a way to say this without sounding like I’m just plugging myself, that’s what she said, but I can’t, please buy my book, it’s pretty good.

Now that we are reacquainted I just want to tell you about something I recently re-read. SCOTT PILGRIM.

Very very entertaining. You need to read it a little slow to catch every little subtle joke, but at the same time it is so hilarious and action packed you can’t help but read it at 670 616 629 miles per hour (1.07925285 × 109 kilometers per hour (that is the speed of light (in metric and imperial (guess we should stick with metric Scott Pilgrim is set in Canada (oh man more brackets (or are they parentheses? (these are brackets? [ (it’s like we’re zooming into the conversation with all these brackets (I hope we don’t get stuck down here, (K, this joke is getting old, (let’s get outta here.))))))))))) Fewf, or phewf. There we go all better. I’m always going to use these ( because these [ aren’t cool. You know how I know? They’re square! Oh, Zing, total dad joke. Probably why I love this lettuce turnip the beet shirt so much. A pun that tells you to eat your vegetables. I think the proper career choice for me is lame/ cool dad.

So, Scott Pilgrim. Very witty, very funny. Very very in fact. Like, if John Green got stuck in an 8 bit video game. Sound about right? Lots of people read the comics, and tons of people saw the movie. They line up nicely, but the comics have way more back story, way more explaining and way more stuff and whatever as Kim Pine would say. There are six books, Each one as hilarious as the last. They take place in Toronto. They are quaint and fun. And they may just RIP YOUR IMAGINATION OUT OF YOUR FACE HOLE!! I don’t really know what that meant, I was just starting to feel like someone from Antiques Roadshow…. Or whatever. You can get them on Amazon, unlike my book, which is on Lulu. Not lulu lemon, lulu bookshop. But yes I do, do yoga and that’s ok because so does Iron Fist and so did Aang that one time. Which it’s like where is our good Last Airbender movie? And where is our Iron Fist movie. We are nerds, we have needs to be met. And those needs only grow the more we get. Plus have you ever read the top opening weekend moives? I think nerds are these Hollywood executives best source of income. Not the DVDs and Blu-Rays though, we have downloading figured out, not that we do it….. we just figured it out.
