Microsoft’s Phil Spencer Speaks on RISE OF THE TOMB RAIDER Exclusivity

Originally announced at Gamescom 2014, the latest Tomb Raider game titled Rise of the Tomb Raider was now only for the Xbox One. When news of the title being exclusive became public, Sony fans felt betrayed given every other title has been on a PlayStation console. Eurogamer recently put out details on the full transcript of a Gamescom discussion, which talks about the reasoning behind this decision. Phil Spencer (Xbox boss) had the following to say.

“I knew there would be some pushback when we came out. Certain people won’t believe this: [the acquisition] doesn’t come from an evil space. It comes from a space where there’s an opportunity that maps really well with what we need in terms of the genre, and a partner that’s looking for a partnership,” Spencer said in an effort to dispel the idea that Microsoft acquired the deal to spite owners of other platforms…
