Movie Monday: Shifter

Hello Poppers and once again it is another Movie Monday.

Today’s feature is a short from Hallivis Brothers.

Synopsis- Los Angeles – 2023. James Striker is on the verge of bringing down the oppressive government that has crushed all freedom in the United States. But before he can take them on, Striker must get past a homicidal drone and an elite squad of EFT soldiers. His only advantage is the SHIFT, a process that allows Striker to transfer his mind into an identical clone body. New body, Same mission: Bring the whole system down.

The short film does have some good effects and the acting of fine. I have to state that I was not sure of what was happening. I have seen the idea of downloading a person consciousnesses into a clone to continue a mission before so that was not surprise. But I don’t say take the time to watch this short. You may find that you may like it more than me.

Cosplay Thursday: Riddle

Hey Poppers

Welcome back to another Cosplay Thursday and to continue with my theme of my last few post this time around I have Riddle. I have no idea what her real name is but she is a top notch cosplayer.

“Introduced to gaming and anime at an early age, it was only a matter of time before Riddle would find the best way to express her fandom: cosplay.

According to Riddle “each costume presents its own set of challenges, requiring me to learn new skills like translation, sculpting, molding, casting and of course, sewing.”

Riddlei is a native of Canada who moved to the United States to help further her costuming skills. It was a success; she has gotten the opportunity to work on films such as Big Momma’s House: Like Father, Like Son and X-Men: First Class as a SfX PA. She has been involved in costuming for over 14 years and is internationally recognized in the cosplay community for her ability to translate costumes and focus on craftsmanship.

Also an avid cook, Riki is the creator of Cosplay for a Cause, whose first project was a cosplay calendar that raised more than $30,000 with 100% of the proceeds donated to the Japanese Red Cross tsunami disaster relief. her favourite act of charity is rescue and rehabilitating baby squirrels

Riki appeared on SYFY’s reality show “Heroes of Cosplay” as one of the protagonist, promoting craftsmanship and teamwork. She also received the highest amount of awards while on there.

When she isn’t doing all that she loves to talk to her robot therapist about videogames and doughnuts”

Green Lantern: The Animated Series

Like many of you I have Netflix and sometime I flip thru all the movies and TV shows to see if I can find anything that may strike my fancy. Hey sometimes you just to have to be in the mood. Well the mood to watch Green Lantern:The Animated Series just happen to fit the bill one day. I had caught some of the episodes on TV here and there but I just did not search it out. The episodes I did see I enjoyed. So now I was able to watch the whole series in on sitting or so.

I am so glad I did.

Green-Lantern-The-Animated-Series2 A first I thought I would just watch a couple to get me by until something else come on the old idiot box. Well I found myself getting caught up more and more with the show. This series is not a just for the young but for all of us. There are so many different threads running through this series. Hatred, Fear, Greed, Love, Loss, Friendship, Trust, Revenge.  All of these and more is a well crafted story.

The series centers around Hal Jordan, voiced by Josh Keaton. Kilowog voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson. Aya, voiced by Grey DeLisle and finally Razer, voiced by Jason Spisak. Razer is a Red Lantern that joins with the Green Lanterns after he capture but starts to question Atrocitus.

The body of the series is broken down into two main arcs. The first dealing with the discovery of a group of Red Lanterns lead by Atrocitus. Atrocitus is vent on the destruction of the Guardians and the Green Lanterns. The Guardians created a army of robots, Manhunters to be the police force before the creation of the Green Lanterns. The Manhunters did have a flaw, believing that emotion was reason for crime all beings with emotions must be evil. That lead to them wiping out a entire sector of space before the Guardians stopped them. Unfortunately this created the Red Lanterns who were set on revenge. Green-Lantern-Animated-Atrocitus-2_1316522923The Red Lanterns are finally defeated with the help of the first Blue Lanterns, Saint Walker and Brother Warth.

The second arc begins with the appearance of the Anti-Matter that is set out to consume the Universe. The Anti-Matter was created by Scar, a  renegade Guardian. After its creation the Anti-Matter went rogue and was finally sent to another dimension where it consumed it. The Anti-Matter finally found its way back to his own dimension and awoke the Manhunters. The Anti-Matter was finally defeated with the help of Aya.

Aya is the A.I. for the ship the Green Lanterns use to travel across the Universe. Aya and Razer relationship is what you could call the B story of the series.  Aya was created from a fragment of the entity inside the Green Lantern’s central battery. Razer is confused by his feeling for Aya at one time telling her that he loves her but later telling her that he does not. This cause Aya shut done her emotions and by doing that she defeats the Anti-Matter. There is more to this arc but I want to leave some of it for you to find out on your own. I must be a bit of a softy because this story of love between these opposites keep me coming back to watch these excellent series as much as the main story arcs. Razer_and_Aya_Green_Lantern_The_Animated_Series

Aya feelings for Razer returns when she injuries Razer. Only the Manhunters are still a threat and Aya sacrifices herself by releasing a virus that destroys the Manhunters but also herself.

I could tell you more and more about the fantastic series but I highly recommend that you spend the time to sit down and watch it. After watching this series I was looking forward to seeing the second series but I have since found out that it has been cancelled. I have to say I was pissed off. It would be nice if DC would at least have a movie to conclude the series.

So again I have to say find this series and watch it. After watching this series my interest in the Green Lantern has peak. I have had a interest in reading some Green Lantern books for some time and I think I will now.

So I give Green Lantern: The Animated Series a 5 pops out of 5.

Hollywood Reboots Or How Lazy Is Hollywood

So here I am trying to figure out what to write about for my next entry into Blog-A-Palooza. If you have read any of my earlier posts you know that I usually write about comic books. I don’t know about yourself fine reader but that can get boring.

So what? Ummmm?

Well I can pick a subject that kind of pisses me off and that will help get things flowing. Okay that sounds good.

Okay, I got one, reboots.

Yeah Reboots

I don’t know about you but I find all the reboots that have come out and that will be coming out (and yes I am sure there will be more) just Hollywood being lazy. Well I think basically Hollywood has just become a bunch of tired old fucks who are not willing to take a chance on something new. I mean a real chance at something new and different. How many reboots have been made by the fat bastards in Hollywood? One source, Den of Geek reported back in July 2013 that 57 were in development. 57? Now am I going to list them all, hell no. To much work. But I am sure you get the picture. How many more does the land of make believe have plan?

A fuck load.

Most of the major studios now want sure fire hit. The cost of making movies just keep getting bigger and bigger each year. The studios that green light movies want to make sure they get their doe back. Yes I know they are aloud to make their money back and a profit. So what is a good way of getting back their money? Take a film, franchise that has a movie audience built right in or yet another sequel. Okay, okay I like sequels but three is a good number and more then that your pushing it.

Just tweak that old idea.

Fancy CGI effects. Younger, good looking stars. Make it fast pace for the young generation raise on sound bites and quick video game action, short attention spans. Turn up the violence cause hey these young kids love the violence. Update the story to make it relevant today. Don’t confuse people with a good story that makes the audience think a little. Oh yeah tits, throw in some tits. Love them tits. Also if we can tie in a toy line into that also then we would have a hit.

Okay I am bitching here but I am the one writing this. I just find it lazy to reboot an old idea. The real producers of strong and creative films are the low small budget movies. This small films or if you like independent films are more willing to make something new or close to original because they don’t have a fat ass Hollywood producer hanging over their back.

Recently I watched a trailer for a movie called, Afflicted. If you take the time to go and take a look at the trailer you will seem something different. Oh course you can see elements of different movies but it is not the usually fare you see coming out of Hollywood. If you take a look around there are some really distinctive, diverse pieces out there. Hell if I had the money to start my own studio I would do nothing but small budget movies with creative people.

I know I don’t have a shit load of facts to please some readers but I just saying. Hollywood, the heavy hitters are just like any capitalists out their. How much money can I make before I die so I not like the rest of the poor people out there.

Then again.

I don’t know shit.
